Character Design for Graphic Novels, written by Steven Withrow and Alexander Danner is an instructional book designed to give you hints and tips to cover all the areas in the creation of a decent graphic novel.
Covering areas from design style, to knowing your audience, this book introduces a number of characters and character styles to suit anyone interested in areas such as sketching and digital artistry.
While this book is accompanied by a large number of detailed and instructional sketches, they are mostly examples and snippets of finished products. This annoyed me a little bit seeing as i love to draw from looking at step by step pictures rather then having to read how to make the picture work, then looking at a finished product. I like having it broken down in front of me.
All in all i think this is a semi decent read if some one is very interested in graphic novel designs and layouts. How ever if your looking for inspiration on creating a nice looking character i recommend looking else where.
